The Supervision process involves therapeutic conversation, problem solving and critical reflection. In other words, we work through the tough stuff together. As a result, you have more time and energy to focus on your goals and practice. As your Supervisor, I will prioritise your well-being with strength focused approaches, and encourage your curiosity and personal discovery. In our sessions, you can express your important stories in safety. By exploring context and perspective in these, you gain clarity and understanding of situations. Initially, your role is to assess if we are a ‘good relational fit’ for supporting you to do your job well. If so, we will create and use a ‘Shared Agreement’ for clarifying how we will work together and manage confidentiality. You will also have input into the structure of sessions through choosing a framework from a range of supervision models. A certified Professional Supervisor, I use complementary coaching models, including neurolinguistic practice (NLP master practitioner), solution focused brief intervention, change theory and adult learning principles. My aim is to help people improve their situations, whatever they are. Diversity, equity, disadvantage and prejudice are real issues for me. I’ve gained a thorough understanding of these issues from working in hospitality, policing, offender management, leadership training, teaching, and development coaching. With this knowledge, I’m allied to both mana-informed and restorative practices. Whakawhanaungatanga and manaakitanga are principles I hold dear, meaning welcoming and connecting processes, honouring and respecting others are priorities for me. Overall, I encourage self-awareness for achieving confidence balanced with humility. My hope is this will allow us to celebrate caring well for all people in the work we do.
